Zimbabwean Zimdancehall heavyweight Kelvin Kusikwenyu, popularly known as Killer T, has been arrested in Harare following a disturbing complaint involving the bereaved family of a man who was fatally mauled by four dogs in Southerton.

ACCOUNTABILITY & REMORSE

Following his detention and questioning at Mabelreign Police Station over abusive voice notes, the musician released a comprehensive public confession, blaming severe alcohol intoxication and pledging to plead guilty.

The Catalyst: A Southerton Tragedy

The case that led to Killer T's arrest is deeply intertwined with a horrific tragedy that occurred just weeks prior. On September 24, 2026, 39-year-old Malcolm Takudzwa Muzavazi was brutally attacked by four dogs while walking along a footpath in Southerton, Harare.

A Preventable Death

According to police, the dogs were kept at a local car sale. They escaped their enclosures after being released for feeding by a security guard. Muzavazi was rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital but was tragically pronounced dead on arrival.

Owners Charged

The incident has already led to multiple arrests. Car sale co-owners Gilbert Rumbwere and Itai Tamirepi, alongside security guard Mannex Svova, were apprehended. Rumbwere has since appeared in the Mbare Magistrates’ Court facing culpable homicide charges for failing to secure the premises.

The Allegations & Arrest

Killer T is not accused of direct involvement in Muzavazi’s death. Instead, the musician became the target of a police investigation over deeply disturbing communications directed at the grieving family.

Threats to the Bereaved

Reports emerged that the dancehall chanter sent threatening WhatsApp voice notes and messages laced with insults to the Muzawazi family during their period of mourning. The exact motive behind his involvement in the matter remains unclear.

Taken into Custody

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed that Killer T was taken to Mabelreign Police Station for questioning. While the arrest began as an allegation-driven probe, the musician's subsequent statement brought undeniable clarity to the situation.

Killer T's Confession

In a rare move for a celebrity embroiled in a criminal investigation, Killer T released a highly emotional, comprehensive statement taking full responsibility for the abusive voice notes, attributing his actions to severe alcohol intoxication.

“I was shocked and could not even believe I had said those bad distasteful words and threats when I listened to the voice notes. I admit I have been abusing alcohol. I was heavily intoxicated at the material time but that is not an excuse. I should never have drunk alcohol to those levels in the first place. I take full responsibility and must be held accountable for my actions.

I have not only failed myself, I have failed and tarnished my name and brand. I have also been a very bad example to all youths who look up to me as a musician and celebrity in Zimbabwe. I have failed my family and everyone who believed in me. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.

I am reaching out to Ambassador Muzawazi and his family humbly requesting forgiveness. This apology comes from the bottom of my heart. It is sincere. I may not be able to reverse the pain and damage I have caused but I can only hope that you will find it in your heart to at least forgive me. To err is human but to forgive is divine. I AM VERY SORRY.

As a sign of sincerity and genuine remorse I will be going to court pleading guilty to the charges. I can never deny or attempt to waste the court's time.

I have reflected deeply on my bad conduct and have resolved to quit drinking alcohol before it is too late. I have abused alcohol before and now wish to be an advocate against drugs and substance abuse... I hope everyone, my family and friends will help me to be a better exemplary person. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.”

Sona Headlines Verdict

Accountability in the Spotlight

It is incredibly rare to see a public figure in Zimbabwe immediately and unconditionally admit fault when faced with criminal allegations. Killer T’s decision to own his mistakes, apologize directly to the grieving Muzawazi family, and pledge to plead guilty sets a surprisingly mature precedent for celebrity accountability.

The Silent Pandemic of Substance Abuse

Beyond the legal drama, this incident highlights the destructive power of substance abuse within the entertainment industry. The dancehall star's admission that alcohol fueled his uncharacteristic and cruel outburst should serve as a wake-up call to the youth who idolize him. If he follows through on his promise to become an advocate against substance abuse, this terrible lapse in judgment could be transformed into a life-saving campaign.
