A successful mining consultant, Blessing Togarepi, is pleading for spiritual intervention after enduring one of the most bizarre romantic streaks in Zimbabwean history. Over the last six years, Togarepi has entered into four marriages, spending over US$31,000 on lobola. All of them have spectacularly collapsed, with the longest lasting a mere two weeks.

A CURSED LOVE LIFE?: Despite doing everything by the book and paying exorbitant lobola prices, Blessing Togarepi says all four of his wives mysteriously abandoned him, citing bizarre spiritual manifestations.

The heartbreak reached a tipping point recently when his fourth marriage collapsed on the very day he paid US$3,500 for his bride in Mutare. The drama has since escalated to Chief Mutasa’s court, leaving Togarepi devastated, contemplating suicide, and wondering who exactly cursed his love life.

The June 6 Disaster and Chief Mutasa's Ruling

Togarepi's most recent heartbreak occurred just weeks ago, ending before the honeymoon even began.

US$3,500 for a Student Pastor On June 6, Blessing married Aisha Lulu Chihota in Mutare. Aisha presented herself as a student pastor at St James United Methodist Church in Dangamvura. Blessing paid US$3,500 in lobola, expecting to start a family.
Denied His Wife Immediately after payment, Aisha's relatives claimed she had suddenly fallen ill and refused to let her leave with him. "They promised I would get my wife after three weekends," Blessing lamented. When he returned with relatives to collect her, they were chased away from the house.
Chief Mutasa Orders a Refund Refusing to be scammed, Blessing escalated the matter to traditional leadership. The case was heard at Chief Mutasa’s court, which recently ruled in Blessing's favor. The court ordered Aisha’s relatives to refund the full lobola amount on or before August 31, 2026.

A Timeline of US$31,700 Spent on Failed Marriages

Before Aisha, Blessing experienced three distinct heartbreaks, spending tens of thousands of dollars following traditional protocols.

His first marriage set the terrifying tone for his future relationships.


Anita Nyoni Blessing married Anita Nyoni in 2020, a woman he worked with selling mining claims. He paid US$9,200. Shortly after, during evening prayers at church, she manifested, acting like a snake in front of congregants. "She then confessed that she was a sangoma," Blessing explained. After he returned from a mining trip, she had vanished, and her family began threatening him. The marriage lasted five days.

Hoping for a fresh start, Blessing went all out for his second wife.


Natasha Chamisa In 2021, he paid a staggering US$18,000 lobola for Natasha Chamisa, followed by a lavish wedding. However, while traveling to a church in Chitungwiza, she began manifesting in the car, trying to open the door while it was moving and insulting him. She left him after just two weeks without giving a clear reason. They share a son, whom Blessing is allowed to see twice every two weeks.

The third marriage was brief and painful.


Purity Kufakwenyika Blessing later married Purity Kufakwenyika, paying US$1,000 in lobola. Just like the others, the relationship spontaneously combusted, lasting a mere five days before she left.

"Who Cursed Me?": The Spiritual Manifestations

Growing up an orphan, Blessing worked hard to build a life, but he believes dark spiritual forces are sabotaging his home.

Every single one of Blessing's marriages has been plagued by strange spiritual events.


The Aisha Encounter During the confrontation with his fourth wife, Aisha, Blessing said a spirit manifested. "The manifestation was scary because chaitotaura kuti why did you make my wife get married? (It was speaking, asking why I married its wife). The spirit threatened me that once I get married, it will destroy everything."
A Quest for Peace “All these things happening in my life are making me lose my peace because I no longer understand who cursed me," Blessing said. Strangely, he noted that when his wives abruptly leave him, they never steal from him—they even leave money behind, adding to the mystery of the supernatural occurrences.
