As the nation unites in mourning, devastating details have emerged regarding the family's journey. According to family sources, Lilian Mujuru and her children had left their home in Tynwald North, Harare, and were traveling to a church conference when their Toyota Corolla collided with a truck near Mvuma.

At a Harare funeral parlour on Saturday, a devastated Ronald Mujuru struggled to process the total loss of his immediate family.
A Lifetime of Grief
Speaking to those gathered to comfort him, a heartbroken Mujuru expressed the depth of his despair: “My life now feels like a prison. This will affect me until my own death.”
A Community in Mourning
The funeral parlour was packed with a diverse cross-section of the community paying their respects. Mourners included church members, the children's teachers and classmates, devoted Dynamos F.C. supporters (who know Ronald as a passionate fan), and friends from his previous tenure managing local musician Andy Muridzo.

The family was en route to a church conference when tragedy struck at the 246-kilometre peg near Mvuma at 9:50 AM on Thursday.
ZRP Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the identities of the six deceased, who all perished at the scene of the head-on collision with a Mercedes-Benz heavy truck.

Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona attended the funeral parlour on Saturday. Fighting back tears, Mhona addressed the mourners, revealing that President Emmerson Mnangagwa had been deeply moved by the tragic news.

“We have been saddened by the loss of six lives from the same family in a road traffic accident,” Minister Mhona stated. “This is so painful. We have lost as a nation. President Mnangagwa is aware of this incident, and he has sent me to express his condolences on his behalf and those of his two deputies.”
