In the wake of Nash Holdings' shocking announcement to shut down NashTV, social commentator Tawona Shadaya has issued a scathing rebuke to those celebrating the platform's closure. Shadaya argues that blinding hatred for founder Tinashe Mutarisi or specific artists is causing people to overlook the devastating impact on the livelihoods of the production crew.

"Hatred Can Blind You"

Shadaya didn't mince words, calling out the hypocrisy of those who bemoan company closures yet cheer for this one.

THE HYPOCRISY

Selectively Sad

"The same people who are always crying about kuvharwa kwema company are actually happy that Nash TV/Music has shut down."

BLIND HATRED

Wishing Failure

"See how hatred can blind you... kwauri uri kufarira kuti hopefully Saintfloew, Nisha T nevamwe 'vakuzopera'."

The Forgotten Workers

Shadaya highlighted that NashTV was more than just the faces on the screen.

Beyond the famous artists, the shutdown affects:

  • Presenters
  • Designers
  • Writers
  • Producers
  • Camera Crew

Shadaya's Point: "These are people whose income will be affected, with families... BUT you wouldn't care as long as Mr Mutarisi 'varemerwa' in your view."

Shadaya concluded with a harsh assessment of the celebrants: "This can only be described either as witchcraft or stupidity of the highest order."

STRATEGIC SHIFT

Official Reason

"Music was never part of our long-term strategy."

Nash Holdings clarified that the entertainment arm was an evolution of their Covid-19 relief efforts. The closure is a deliberate decision to realign with the company's core strengths in business and manufacturing.

The Founder's Word

"I believe I’ve done my part in the entertainment space. From the lockdown days to helping lift a few artists, we pushed as hard as we could, and I’m proud of the impact we made. But now it’s time for a new chapter."
