Zimbabwean rapper Maskiri (Alishias Musimbe) has breathed a sigh of relief after spending two days in police custody. The musician has publicly apologized to his fans and business partners after fulfilling his promise to handover five goats to US-based Zimbabwean Tonderai Chisoro, effectively ending the criminal charges against him.

Introspection in Custody

Speaking after his release, Maskiri expressed deep regret over the incident. "I sincerely apologise to Mukoma Tonde, Mash Goats and my fans for my conduct. It has been a difficult chapter but it wasn’t without its lessons."

The rapper admitted that his 48 hours in detention were a wake-up call. "The two days in detention actually gave me time to introspect. It is in times like these that you realise how important freedom is... something that we take for granted when we have it."

Settled: Goats Delivered

The dispute was resolved amicably with the intervention of Mash Goats, an organization Maskiri represents. Five goats were handed over to David Makubi, representing the complainant Tonderai Chisoro.

"Early Saturday morning l received a call from Mash Goats advising me that my animals were ready... as we speak, the goats are now in their new home in Masvingo."

Chisoro expressed relief but noted the importance of professionalism. "I have a lot of respect for Maskiri as a musician... but then when it comes to business, things ought to be done professionally."

Friends in High Places

While at Chitungwiza Police Station, Maskiri received an unexpected lifeline. He revealed that Stunner and Olinda Chapel called him, offering to pay back the US$1,500 debt if all other plans failed.

"It was then that I realised they are still friends with me at heart and in mind," Maskiri said, acknowledging those who stood in his corner during the ordeal.

Music from the Drama

True to his artistic nature, Maskiri says his focus has shifted back to the studio. He announced the release of a "blockbuster new track" due in the second week of December. He hinted that fans shouldn't rule out a song inspired by the goat saga, using his "artistic genius" to turn the experience into music.

Quick Facts

Mash Goats provided the 5 goats to the complainant, leading to an out-of-court settlement.
