End of the Road for Evans Sivechere "Vecco Lupa": Migration Scammer Arrested in Botswana Sting Operation
The myth of his "spiritual immunity" has been shattered. Evans Sivechere, known as Vecco Lupa, was arrested at Sir Seretse Khama Airport for a massive job-seeker fraud scheme, leaving prominent Zimbabwean influencers scrambling to apologize.
The Arrest
On Sunday, November 22, 2025, the Botswana Police Service executed a successful sting operation at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. They apprehended 29-year-old Zimbabwean national Evans Sivechere, popularly known as "Vecco Lupa" or "Evans Zhou."
According to social commentator Setlhomo Raymond Tshwanelang, the fugitive was lured back from hiding in South Africa under the guise of a client wishing to pay for services. "We pretended we wanted to pay for his services and he came running back. Police nabbed him on the spot," Tshwanelang reported.
Sivechere appeared before the Village Magistrate Court on Tuesday, November 25, facing 11 counts of fraud and has been remanded in custody until December 2, 2025.
The "Diamond Migration" Scheme
Operating as the Director of Diamond Migration (PTY) Ltd in Gaborone, Sivechere is accused of defrauding more than 11 clients of over P240,000 (approx. US$17,500) between October 2024 and October 2025.
Victims submitted documentation and payments for non-existent jobs in countries such as Ireland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Finland, Poland, and Greece. One Zimbabwean victim revealed, "I was scammed out of US$2,680... My permit even had an incorrect expiry date written as 31/02/2026. At the Serbian Embassy, I was informed that Serbia had not issued visas to Zimbabwean citizens for nearly two years."
Myth Busted
For years, rumors circulated within Sivechere's social circles that he possessed "supernatural protection" or juju that made him untouchable by law enforcement. His arrest has shattered this reputation.
A lawyer commenting on the case mocked the belief, stating: "Where are the witchcraft powers he was said to possess? We now need to inform investigating officers in other countries — Zimbabwe and South Africa."
Influencers in Hot Water
The scam has dragged down the reputations of prominent Zimbabwean content creators who were contracted to market Diamond Migration. Madam Boss, Royal Mint, and Mabrijo have all issued public apologies.
"I sincerely apologize to anyone who may have been misled... I do not have any ownership, partnership, or ongoing relationship with the company," — Madam Boss
Royal Mint also expressed regret: "At the time, I acted in good faith... I now understand that many people were negatively affected, and for that, I am truly sorry."
Mabrijo added, "I take full responsibility for not conducting proper background checks before associating my name and platform with their services."
Assistant Commissioner of Police Near Bagali urged the public to exercise extreme caution. "Botswana Police Service reminds members of the public to remain vigilant when engaging employment or recruitment agencies, and to verify the legitimacy of entities before making payments," he stated.
