As a co-founder of ZAOGA Forward in Faith and the visionary behind Ambassadors for Christ International, his legacy is one of pioneering evangelism, church planting, and profound spiritual fatherhood to generations.
A Foundational Journey
Born on May 1, 1931, in Hurungwe, Zimbabwe, Abel Sande's early life was marked by poverty and hardship. His father, Sande Kademaunga, was a pioneer of the Jehovah's Witness faith in the nation. Despite these humble beginnings, Dr. Sande became active in ministry at the young age of 19. In 1963, while working as a supervisor at Pockets Bakery, he received his definitive call into full-time ministry.
Dr. Sande was a firm believer in theological grounding. In 1966, he attended the Canadian Assemblies of God Theological School in Mutare. His quest for deeper knowledge led him to Nigeria in 1978, where he underwent further studies at the renowned All Nations for Christ Bible Institute under the leadership of Reverend Benson Idahosa in Benin City.
In 1955, Dr. Sande married the love of his life, Dr. Elizabeth. Their union was blessed with seven children—two boys and five girls. Together, they built a formidable partnership in both life and ministry, standing as a testament to commitment and shared purpose until his passing in 2021.
A Legacy of Ministry
In 1967, Apostle Dr. Abel Sande, alongside the iconic Apostle Dr. Ezekiel Guti, co-founded Assemblies of God Africa (A.O.G.A), with Dr. Guti as Chairman and Dr. Sande as Vice Chairman. This ministry would later become Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA), also known as Forward in Faith. For 20 years, Dr. Sande served diligently as an Overseer, Pastor, District Chairman, and Evangelist, playing a crucial role in its foundational growth.
After two decades of faithful service in ZAOGA, Dr. Sande embarked on a new chapter. On October 11, 1987, he founded Ambassadors for Christ International. The ministry's name was inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:20, reflecting his deep passion for evangelism and representing Christ to the nations.
