Zimbabwean socialite Hillary Makaya has found herself at the center of a public controversy after a sangoma (traditional healer) named Sekuru Mwale accused her of breaking a deal to share a portion of her lobola (bride price) with him in exchange for his assistance in finding a wealthy husband.
Sekuru Mwale took to Facebook to publicly air his grievance, claiming he played a crucial role in helping Makaya attract and marry a wealthy man, known locally as a "mbinga," for a significant sum of US$40,000. He alleged that they had agreed on a financial arrangement whereby he would receive a share of the lobola money.
However, he now alleges that Makaya has reneged on the agreement, cut off all communication, and refused to pay him.
Sekuru Mwale went on to warn Makaya that he would use traditional methods to "punish" her for her alleged breach of contract. He claims to have evidence of their interactions, including purported WhatsApp messages, which he shared as proof of their agreement.

This incident has sparked widespread discussion and speculation in Zimbabwe, with many questioning the legitimacy of the sangoma's claims and the ethical implications of his alleged actions. It remains to be seen how this controversy will unfold and whether it will damage Makaya's public image. The saga highlights the complex interplay of tradition, wealth, and social influence within Zimbabwean society.
