Martin Muduva Dzivarasekwa Tragedy: New Details on Fatal Domestic Dispute, ZHRC Commissioner and Lyliosa Chirara

According to family sources and reports by H-Metro, the tension in the Muduva household had been brewing for quite some time. The woman at the center of the extramarital affair has been identified as Patience Mangwiro, the acting Director of Enterprise at Midlands State University (MSU)—the very institution where Dr. Muduva served as a lecturer.
A neighbor, who described herself as a close friend of Chirara, claimed the betrayal ran deeper than just the photos. She alleged that Lyliosa had recently spoken about taking her own life after the second wife called her to explicitly taunt her over the newly formalized union.
A Calculated Execution
The humiliation of the publicized Roora ceremony proved too much for the 43-year-old nurse. Just after midnight on Tuesday going into Wednesday, a furious argument erupted in the couple's bedroom in Dzivarasekwa Extension.
A horrified neighbor was alerted to the commotion and rushed to the bloody scene. The couple was hastily transported to a 24-hour medical center. Tragically, Lyliosa Chirara was pronounced dead on arrival. Dr. Muduva was transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in critical condition, but his extensive injuries proved fatal, and he died on Wednesday morning.

The shock of Dr. Muduva's death is amplified by his standing in society. Appointed as a ZHRC commissioner on December 19, 2024, he was pivotal in bridging the gap between human rights and technology. He also served on the Innovation Drive and Assessment Committee under POTRAZ.
Information Communication Technology Minister Tatenda Mavetera publicly mourned his loss, stating: "Dr Muduva was a dedicated public servant and a brilliant mind whose contributions to our nation’s engineering and technological landscape will not be forgotten... The circumstances surrounding his demise are deeply devastating."
The ZHRC also released a statement, echoing the profound loss: "As the ZHRC family, we mourn together and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families. We pray that they will find strength and comfort during this difficult time."
