From the controversial “Roora Day” WhatsApp post and reports of a second relationship to claims about marital separation and alleged infidelity, the competing narratives have raised difficult questions about what ultimately led to the tragic deaths of Martin Muduva and Lyliosa Chirara in Dzivarasekwa Extension.
Narrative 1: “Separated Under One Roof” — What Was Really Happening Between Martin Muduva and Lyliosa Chirara?
One prominent version circulating in the aftermath of the murder-suicide suggests that Martin and Lyliosa had already separated emotionally and romantically. Proponents of this theory claim they were simply living under the same roof for the sake of their children, and that Martin's relationship with another woman was "known and understood" between them.
Narrative 2: The “Other Woman” — What Lyliosa Chirara’s Friend Says About Martin Muduva’s Second Relationship
Contradicting the "peaceful separation" theory is the account from Lyliosa's friend, Nancy. According to her, Martin had been in a relationship with another woman (identified in reports as an MSU colleague) for about five years. They had a child together, and yes, Lyliosa knew about her.
The situation allegedly reached its fatal climax when Martin paid lobola for the other woman and posted a “Roora Day” picture on his WhatsApp status. According to Nancy, seeing that public validation of the affair deeply traumatized Lyliosa, pushing her over the edge.
Narrative 3: The Counter-Allegations — What Was Martin Muduva’s Side of the Story?
Just as the public began to sympathize entirely with the scorned first wife, another explosive allegation began circulating. Some associates, including a prominent businesswoman, claimed that Lyliosa herself had previously had extramarital affairs—even allegedly running a butchery with one of her lovers. Proponents of this narrative claim Martin knew about it but stayed because he wanted to "protect his image."
