Jacaranda Music Festival 2026: Spotlighting Zimbabwe’s Established & Emerging Talent
The Jacaranda Music Festival is gearing up for its highly anticipated ninth edition, placing a massive spotlight on the evolving face of Zimbabwean music. Running under the powerful theme “The Music. The People. The City,” this year's three-day extravaganza promises to be a masterclass in local and regional entertainment.
Festival Manager Tariro Negitare revealed that the 2026 lineup is a deliberate and strategic mix, anchoring the festival around legendary Zimbabwean icons like Jah Prayzah, Mokoomba, and Minister Michael Mahendere, while simultaneously providing a massive platform for emerging local artists and prominent Southern African regional acts.
A Deliberate Mix of Talent
The organizers of the Jacaranda Music Festival have made a conscious decision to shift the paradigm of local events by heavily investing in both the legends and the future stars of the nation. According to Festival Manager Tariro Negitare, the curation was deeply intentional.
While international and regional acts are guaranteed crowd-pullers, Tariro emphasized that a festival’s true soul lies in its ability to introduce audiences to fresh, local sounds. By placing emerging artists like Sylent Nqo, Mwendamberi, Nasibo, Mandie Mae, Enhle, and Just Leo on the same stage as established giants, the festival creates an unparalleled opportunity for musical discovery.
“That balance is important because a festival should not only reflect what is already popular; it should also help introduce... That is really what we want Jacaranda to be—a place where you can come for the artist you already know, but leave having discovered someone new.”
The Three-Day Musical Experience
The festival is structured to provide a unique energy and atmosphere for each of its three days, seamlessly blending local heavyweights with massive Southern African regional acts.
Adding a massive Southern African dimension to the event, regional powerhouses such as Mr JazziQ, Njelic, Zee Nxumalo, and Caiiro will grace the stage, bridging the gap between Zimbabwean sounds and the broader regional club culture.
Developing the Creative Ecosystem
Beyond the bright lights and thumping bass, the ninth edition of the Jacaranda Music Festival has a heavy focus on the business of music and the long-term sustainability of the creative industry in Zimbabwe.
A highly anticipated Festival Managers Roundtable will run concurrently with the event. This initiative will bring together event managers from Zimbabwe and the wider region to discuss critical topics such as audience development, corporate partnerships, event technology, and financial sustainability.
As Jacaranda looks toward its monumental 10th anniversary in 2027, the organizers view this 9th edition as the critical foundation-laying phase for the festival's next major chapter.
