UNDER INVESTIGATION: National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that detectives are actively probing the Kariba crash linked to the "Waponda Moyo" hitmaker.

According to authorities, the horrific incident was preceded by a major disturbance at the venue. A clash between the performers and revellers triggered widespread panic, sending crowds fleeing into the streets. In the ensuing confusion, an expecting mother allegedly fell onto the roadway and was struck by a white vehicle believed to be driven by the musician as she fled the hostile scene.

Violence Erupts at the Show

The tragedy on the road was a direct result of the escalating violence inside the venue, where Malloti and Hulungende were performing.

Witnesses reported that the disturbance allegedly started after stones were thrown towards the performer during the show.

Mass Panic The confrontation between the "Waponda Moyo" singer and the hostile revellers escalated rapidly. The ensuing commotion reportedly caused terrified patrons to flee in different directions, spilling uncontrollably onto the nearby roads in a desperate bid for safety.

The Crash & The Suspected Getaway Swap

As the musicians prepared a hurried exit from the venue, the situation escalated into a severe criminal traffic offense.

Pregnant Victim Struck Amidst the confusion of the fleeing crowd, an expecting mother allegedly fell onto the road. As Malloti prepared to leave the venue, a white vehicle allegedly drove into the pregnant woman. She was rushed to a local hospital where she is currently admitted for emergency treatment.
Intercepted in a Blue Vehicle In a highly suspicious turn of events pointing to potential evasion, ZRP eventually intercepted Malloti far from the scene in Karoi. Strikingly, she was no longer in the white vehicle involved in the crash, but was stopped while traveling in a completely different blue vehicle.

ZRP Official Statements & Ongoing Probe

National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi has provided the official stance on the developing case.

The police are treating the incident with high priority to ascertain exactly what transpired.

"A Comprehensive Investigation" “Police are carrying out a comprehensive investigation linking a local musician to a road traffic accident in Kariba," stated Comm. Nyathi. "The musician was reported to have clashed with revellers at a show leading to a commotion. One of the revellers, and the expecting mother, were injured.”
Tracking the Vehicles Nyathi confirmed the vehicle swap: “The musician was later stopped while she was in Karoi in a blue vehicle. Investigations are continuing with a view to ascertain what actually transpired.” As of June 30, no formal charges or arrests have been announced.

Accountability in the Spotlight

The "Waponda Moyo" hitmaker is now facing a severe legal crisis. Fleeing the scene of an accident involving a pregnant woman, coupled with allegedly switching getaway vehicles from white to blue, paints a highly incriminating picture. As the victim receives medical care, the nation waits to see what charges the Zimbabwe Republic Police will formally press against Malloti and Hulungende once the comprehensive probe concludes.
