Police Hunt Hezy Motors Director Over US$155k Vehicle Import Fraud
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a nationwide manhunt for Hazel Silibaziso Mafu, the director of Hezy Motors Logistics Private Limited, over allegations of a massive vehicle importation scam.
Operating under the guise of a highly visible and reputable logistics company, Mafu is accused of defrauding dozens of clients out of more than US$155,000 between 2022 and April 2026.
"Through these advertisements, the suspect misrepresented that she had the capacity to source and deliver motor vehicles within specified timeframes at competitive prices."
The Illusion of Legitimacy
The Modus Operandi
Hezy Motors Logistics built its visibility and trust through extensive, professional-looking advertising campaigns.
Luring the Public

Broken Promises
The company presented itself as a highly capable logistics firm that could source and deliver imported vehicles from overseas within agreed timelines and at highly competitive prices. Clients trusted the brand, paid upfront, and waited for deliveries that never materialized.

The scale of the alleged fraud spans four years, leaving many hard-working citizens severely out of pocket.
20 Formal Complaints
Police confirmed that so far, at least 20 complainants have formally stepped forward and filed reports detailing how they engaged Hezy Motors, paid for vehicles, and were subsequently ignored or evaded by Mafu.
US$155,211 Stolen
The total reported financial prejudice currently stands at a staggering US$155,211.00. Authorities have not yet disclosed if any of the funds or assets have been recovered.

Sona Headlines Verdict
Due Diligence is Non-Negotiable
The Hezy Motors scandal is a painful reminder that a professional social media presence does not equal a legitimate business. The vehicle importation sector in Zimbabwe has become a hotspot for fraudsters preying on the hopes of hard-working citizens trying to secure affordable transport. Before parting with thousands of dollars, buyers must verify import licenses, demand physical collateral or escrow arrangements, and never rely solely on Facebook advertisements.
