On her Instagram Story, Makhadzi wrote: “This is Cyril Nzeru, he is Going around scamming people using my name, taking peoples money, pretending to work with me. I have no business relationship with him.”
Following her personal post, the singer shared an official notice from Makhadzi Entertainment to further formalise the warning to the public about the alleged scam.
Distancing from the Imposter
The statement read: “It has come to our attention that an individual identifying himself as Cyril Nzeru Skero is falsely representing himself as a booking agent for Makhadzi Entertainment and is allegedly engaging in fraudulent activities.”
The organisation made it explicitly clear that the man is not connected to them in any way: “Makhadzi Entertainment would like to categorically state that this individual is not affiliated with, authorized by, or acting on behalf of the organisation in any capacity.”
Makhadzi Entertainment warned promoters, event organisers, and members of the public to be very careful when making bookings or payments. The notice stated that any bookings, payments, or agreements made through unauthorised individuals are done entirely at the person’s own risk, and the organisation will not be responsible for any financial losses.
Protecting the Brand
To help people avoid being scammed, the organisation shared a few important tips. These include only communicating through officially verified channels, confirming all bookings directly with Makhadzi Entertainment, and avoiding payments to individuals whose credentials cannot be verified.
The statement concluded that appropriate steps are being taken to deal with the matter, and people who want to verify bookings or report suspicious activity should contact the official Makhadzi Entertainment channels.
