The Apology Wave. First, it was sungura musician Gift Amuli. Now, it’s Apostle Dickson Nhumwa. Both men have been forced into making embarrassing public apologies following high-profile cyberbullying incidents. In the latest saga to rock the religious community, Apostle Nhumwa has been forced to retract severe allegations made against Evangelist Trymore Muparinga.

PUBLIC RETRACTION
Apostle Nhumwa retracted his statements in a 22-second video.

The Original Allegations. The controversy began when Apostle Nhumwa shared a highly speculative video online. In it, he accused Evangelist Muparinga of allegedly abusing church offerings to seduce women and purchase alcohol. The damaging claims quickly gained traction, forcing Muparinga to take legal action and file a police report for cyberbullying. Faced with legal pressure and intervention from church seniors, Nhumwa has now admitted his claims were completely unfounded.

The Retraction

“My brother, Evangelist Muparinga, I want to apologise to you for overreacting to an issue I have heard. It was so personal. I love you, my brother.” — Apostle Nhumwa

The Forced Backtrack

In a brief 22-second video, Apostle Nhumwa expressed his remorse, a stark contrast to the initial one-minute-and-32-second video that ignited the controversy.

This marked a significant, public retraction of the rumours that had stirred considerable speculation online regarding Muparinga's conduct.

The Victim's Reaction

Evangelist Muparinga welcomed the apology. Although he had already filed a police report against Nhumwa for cyberbullying, he showed a willingness to move forward.

Senior Intervention

“I will accept his apology. He is yet to meet me," Muparinga stated. "There are some senior church leaders who approached him over his video, maybe that is why he decided to apologise.”

A Familiar Pattern

This incident is not Nhumwa’s first encounter with controversy in the public eye.

He previously led a branch of Masvingo Heartfelt International Ministries but faced severe backlash. Members distanced themselves from him due to his controversial leadership style, and his history of grievances—including a prior forced apology to the Heartfelt International Ministries leadership—is well documented.
