BREAKING: Prophet Walter Magaya Granted US$3,000 Bail by High Court

Harare, Zimbabwe — Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries founder Walter Magaya has been granted temporary freedom. The Harare High Court today released the cleric on US$3,000 bail following his arrest last week on four fresh counts of rape involving different women.
The Ruling
Despite vigorous opposition from the State regarding witness interference, Justice Vivian Ndlovu ruled in favor of liberty, imposing stringent reporting conditions and asset surrender.
Stringent Conditions Imposed
As part of the ruling handed down by Justice Vivian Ndlovu, Magaya must adhere to the following strict conditions to remain out of custody:
- Monetary: Deposit US$3,000 with the Clerk of Court.
- Travel: Surrender his passport immediately.
- Assets: Surrender the title deeds to his Mt Pleasant house as surety.
- Reporting: Report to the police twice a week.
- Residence: Continue residing at his given address until the matter is finalized.

The State alleges offenses occurred between 2016 and 2023.
A 24-year-old ministerial worker alleges she was invited to a hotel room under the guise of Bible study. She claims she was locked inside the room and raped by the cleric.
A 22-year-old woman alleges she was instructed to stay at the Yadah Hotel for prayers intended to stop "spiritual manifestations." The State claims the rape occurred inside the hotel's Presidential Suite.
A 32-year-old woman alleges Magaya offered her employment in a housing project. She claims he drove her to a house in Borrowdale where the sexual assault took place.
A 21-year-old shop attendant alleges she was invited to a hotel as a reward for selling Magaya’s books. She claims she was locked in a room and forced into sexual intercourse. The exact date was not specified in court documents.
What Happens Next?
According to the State, the trial is set to commence on February 16, 2026, and will run continuously until February 19 at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
