From UK Courtrooms to Harare: Olinda Chapel Faces Legal, Personal, and Public Battles

BREAKING NEWS

Olinda Chapel in Crisis: Court Appearance, Cyberbullying Charges, and Strict Bail Conditions

UK-based businesswoman and socialite Olinda Chapel appeared before a Harare court on Wednesday afternoon facing serious cyberbullying charges. The case arises from an explosive dispute involving her partner, musician Desmond “Stunner” Chideme, and his ex-wife, Dyonne Tafirenyika.

The court appearance marks another setback in a challenging year for Chapel. Following a significant defeat at a UK employment tribunal linked to her company, Gain Healthcare, she now faces strict bail conditions in Zimbabwe as the State prosecutes her for alleged digital harassment.

The Cyberbullying Charges Facing Olinda Chapel in Harare Magistrates’ Court

Olinda Chapel appeared before Harare Magistrate Ms. Ruth Moyo on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. She was charged with cyberbullying but was not asked to plead to the charges.

Magistrate Moyo released Chapel on US$100 bail. The State, represented by prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe, did not oppose bail but requested strict conditions to ensure Chapel remains available for trial.

The complainant is Dyonne Tafirenyika, the ex-wife of musician Desmond “Stunner” Chideme. The court heard that Chapel allegedly used a Facebook Live video to launch a verbal assault on Tafirenyika.

According to the State, the video contained specific insults, including calling Tafirenyika a "prostitute." Prosecutors argue that the content was posted on social media, accessible to the public, with the specific intention to intimidate, harass, threaten, bully, or cause substantial emotional distress.

The matter has been postponed to the new year. Olinda Chapel is expected to return to court on January 16, 2026, for routine remand as the State finalizes its case.

Strict Bail Conditions Imposed on Olinda Chapel

Following her appearance at the Harare Magistrates’ Court, Magistrate Ruth Moyo imposed strict bail conditions on Olinda Chapel, designed to ensure compliance with the ongoing cyberbullying investigation and prevent interference with the legal process.

  1. Surrender her passport: Chapel must immediately hand over her passport to the Clerk of Court to prevent international travel during the investigation.
  2. Fortnightly reporting: She is required to report in person every two weeks at Borrowdale Police Station to maintain regular oversight.
  3. No contact with witnesses: She is prohibited from approaching or attempting to influence any state witnesses involved in the case.

Authorities have warned that any breach of these conditions could lead to revocation of bail and her immediate remand into custody. Legal experts note that these measures are standard in high-profile Zimbabwean cases where public figures are involved, ensuring both compliance and the integrity of the investigation.

The Spark Behind the Feud: December 17 Allegations

The court heard that on December 17, 2025, Chapel unlawfully and intentionally generated and sent a video via a Facebook Live broadcast. During the stream, she allegedly shouted at Tafirenyika, demeaned her character, and threatened to "deal with her."

Prosecutors allege the broadcast was calculated to degrade, humiliate, and demean Tafirenyika publicly.

The incident reportedly stemmed from a confrontation at Olinda's Harare home when Dyonne arrived to demand the return of her minor child from Stunner. Tensions escalated with allegations that the child had been "hidden" in a wardrobe, triggering the explosive online reaction that led to the current charges.

Gain Healthcare UK Tribunal Defeat Adds Pressure

Earlier this year, Chapel faced a significant defeat in the UK courts regarding her company, Gain Healthcare. An employment tribunal ruled that she had unfairly dismissed a manager, Amber Stoter.

The tribunal found that the dismissal was "retaliatory." Stoter was fired just 48 hours after she reported receiving sexually inappropriate messages from Chapel's husband at the time, Tytan Nkomo. The judge dismissed Chapel's defense that the firing was due to "poor performance" as baseless.

Behind the Headlines: Olinda Chapel’s Personal Life

Beyond her legal battles, Olinda Chapel’s private life continues to attract public attention. In addition to the Tytan Nkomo scandal referenced in the UK employment tribunal case, Chapel has publicly declared that her former husband is excluded from her will and barred from attending her funeral, underscoring a highly strained post-marriage relationship as 2025 closes.

Separate from the tribunal ruling, public petitions and online campaigns have accused Olinda Chapel of misconduct related to her UK company’s recruitment of migrant healthcare workers. These claims include allegations of unfair charges for employment placement and poor housing conditions — allegations which Chapel has denied but which continue to circulate online.
