The Assumptions

For years, Nisha Ts has faced public scrutiny regarding her sexuality. Her preference for male apparel—baggy jeans, oversized T-shirts, and sneakers—coupled with her naturally deep voice, led many to label her as a lesbian or "tomboy."

Setting the Record Straight

In a candid interview on the Ollah 7 Podcast, the Admire Kadembo singer put the rumors to rest.

“Yes, I am in a relationship. I have a boyfriend, why not? Ndi Mhofu... I am not gay, I just love this style of dressing.”

The Origin of the Style

Nisha explained that her fashion choices are rooted in her upbringing. Raised by a strict grandmother, she was never allowed to wear trousers or shorts at home.

“I’d only wear trousers at school, but I always had a burning desire to wear them. Growing up, people used to say I behave and talk like a boy because my voice has a bass.”

It wasn't until she moved to the city that she found the freedom to express herself authentically. “I then had the liberty to wear whatever I wanted when I grew up and came to town, that’s why I dress like this,” she explained.

Sona Headlines Verdict

"Fashion is a language, but it is not a definition of character or orientation. Nisha Ts reminds us that authenticity is the ultimate trend."

Nisha Ts is a testament to the power of staying true to oneself in an industry that often demands conformity. Her music speaks for itself, and her style is simply the packaging of a unique and bold artist.
