Faith Mudiwa Chipangura: The Literary Force Redefining Publishing in Southern Africa
Sona Headlines Feature
In the vibrant literary landscape of Southern Africa, Faith Mudiwa Chipangura stands as a formidable force. As the visionary founder and Managing Director of Phoenix Publishing, she is more than an expert; she is a trusted name dedicated to transforming powerful ideas into beautifully crafted books and empowering authors to share their voices with the world.
A Legacy Forged in Words
With over nine years of experience, Faith's impressive personal portfolio includes 26 published books. This intimate understanding of the author's journey is what sets her apart. As head publisher, she is deeply involved in every project, ensuring each manuscript receives the creative insight and industry expertise it deserves. Her achievements include a record-breaking launch of four books on a single day in 2021: Dungeons, Uncapped Thoughts, Things We Never Say Out Loud, and Letters to My Younger Self.
Born in Plumtree, Faith's journey is one of defying the odds. "Phoenix Publishing was birthed out of a personal need as an author to see the literary industry do better," she explains. "I felt the reception and recognition wasn’t coming, so to close that gap I decided to create an organisation that is writer and reader-centred." In just three years, she has overseen the successful publication of more than 46 titles for other authors.
The Phoenix Mission: Rise. Write. Inspire.
Headquartered in Benoni, South Africa, and operating across South Africa and Zimbabwe, Phoenix Publishing is a movement. Its mission is to empower authors and reshape narratives with courage and authenticity. The company nurtures up-and-coming writers through mentorship programs and masterclasses, and recognizes excellence through its annual book awards.
The inaugural Phoenix Publishing Book Awards celebrated authors across 16 categories, honouring respected figures like Rinos Mautsa and Simba Nyamadzawo. "The ceremony brings books, writers, and the publishing world to the reading public," Faith stated, emphasizing the goal of creating a vibrant and supportive literary community.
New Book: 'Coming Clean'
Faith is set to release her latest book, "Coming Clean," a timely and captivating exploration of mental health challenges. The book delves into the complex worlds of anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts, weaving together powerful personal narratives with practical insights and coping mechanisms.
"Coming Clean not only sheds light on mental health struggles but also provides actionable strategies to manage anxiety, combat depression, and foster mental well-being," she says. Through this work, she aims to destigmatize conversations around mental health and create a more supportive society.
