Early Life and Education
Tino Machakaire was born on November 23, 1981, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. His upbringing instilled in him a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. He later earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Machakaire embarked on his professional journey in 1998, starting as a carpenter in Harare. He displayed remarkable adaptability during Zimbabwe’s challenging economic times, exploring currency trading and cross-border commerce. His entrepreneurial ventures took a significant turn in 2003 when he entered the transport industry with a single vehicle, which grew into a fleet of commuter omnibuses under Cunrode Investments serving the Marange route.
In 2007, he registered his company TinMac Investments, which specializes in passenger and goods transportation. Under his leadership, the company expanded rapidly, and by 2014, it boasted a fleet of 34 state-of-the-art trucks operating across Southern Africa. TinMac has become a vital player in the region’s logistics sector and was also the head of logistics for the Command Agriculture program.
A Career in Public Service
Machakaire entered politics in 2018 when he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Hwedza South under the ZANU-PF party. His approach has been characterized by a grassroots focus, emphasizing direct engagement with his constituents.
In 2019, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts, and Recreation. Following his re-election in 2023, President Emmerson Mnangagwa elevated him to Minister of Youth Empowerment Development and Vocational Training. In this role, he champions vocational skills development, which is critical to achieving the nation’s Vision 2030 goals. Additionally, he serves as the National Secretary for Youth Affairs within ZANU-PF.
