Takuranashe “Blot Grenade” Chiwoniso Begins Rehabilitation Journey to Rebuild His Life and Career
Zimbabwean Zimdancehall artist Takuranashe “Blot Grenade” Chiwoniso has officially entered a rehabilitation facility in Harare, beginning a bold new chapter in his journey of recovery and redemption.
Known for his raw talent and turbulent past, Blot’s decision—facilitated by a compassionate local clergyman—marks a powerful step toward overcoming addiction and rebuilding both his personal life and music career. Fans and fellow musicians across Zimbabwe have applauded the move, calling it an inspiring example of hope, courage, and transformation within the local music scene.
A Career Derailed by Controversy
After bursting onto the scene in 2016 with hits like "Ndiri Bad" and the iconic "Humbangu," Blot Grenade became one of the most sought-after Zimdancehall artists. However, his promising career was soon overshadowed by a long and public battle with drug abuse, particularly crystal meth.
His struggles led to multiple arrests, including a high-profile incident in June 2023 when he was allegedly found in possession of crystal meth. Although he was acquitted in September 2023 and declared himself "born again," his battle with addiction has been a difficult one.
The Turning Point: An Offer of Help
The opportunity for professional help arose through a free rehabilitation program offered by local clergyman Prophet Kudakwashe Jose of the Victorious Generation International Church. Recognizing the artist's struggles, Prophet Jose made a public offer to support his recovery.
According to his manager, Jack Radics, Blot accepted the offer and has now been admitted to the **Matrix Camp Rehabilitation Centre** in Harare. The camp, led by Tafadzwa Chidawa, is described as a "creative and disciplinary platform" designed to help individuals rebuild their lives.
The Road to Recovery
The initiative has been widely praised by fans and other figures in the music industry who are rallying behind the artist. Prophet Jose has pledged further assistance, including securing decent accommodation for Blot and his family and supporting new projects to help him rebuild his life after rehab.
Despite his personal struggles, Blot Grenade has continued to make comeback attempts. In 2025, he released a new song titled "Freedom," signaling a renewed commitment to his career. His community remains hopeful that with this structured support, he can achieve a full and lasting recovery and make a triumphant return to the music scene.
In a statement, Prophet Kudakwashe Jose shared his motivation:
"My desire is to see my generation free from drug abuse. This is why we took our dear brother Blot to the rehab center... After rehab, we are planning to find decent accommodation for him and his family, and to support him with projects that will help rebuild his life. This is not the end — it’s just the beginning!"
